Ding! Ding!
I hauled my ass out of bed way early this morning so that I could be a good little person and go to the hotel fitness center before I sit on my butt all day. It's packed. There is a waitlist 3 people deep for the treadmills. And everyone in there was ridiculously perky for 6:30 in the morning. They're all telling each other "good job, Kelly" and "way to sweat it out, Tony." It's too early for enthusiasm of any kind. So I abandoned the early morning workout mission and went back upstairs. But I can't sleep. Because I've been given the premier room right by all the elevators. I've been hearing ding! ding! all night. And just to top it off, I'm also in the room across from the ice machine. There are an alarmingly high number of people who apparently desperately need ice at 3 or 4 in the morning. Other than that... Went to dinner with a couple college friends last night. I don't think I'd seen them in a year and a half or so. It was weird. We used to never run out of things to talk about. Yet last night there were several long awkward pauses where no one could think of anything to say. After "how's work?," "still seeing whatshisname?," and "have you talked to so-and-so?" there just wasn't a lot left. I guess we've just gone in different directions and don't really have that much in common anymore other than 4 years at Michigan. It was kinda sad though. Maybe if I saw them more than once every year and a half.... But I'm going to dinner tonight with Steph. Fortunately, we don't have the running out of things to talk about problem. SOTD: None. Too early, no music.
