Split Personalities
I think cars are having an identity crisis. Everything coming out recently is like half of this, half of that. For example, the Chrysler Pacifica. Is it a SUV? Or a minivan? Or the Dodge Magnum -- a station wagon? A car? (And may I just say that that sounds like a brand of condoms than a car.) There is also the Ford Freestyle, another minivan/SUV with a little bit of station wagon thrown in. Then there are your truck/SUVs like the Explorer Sport Trak. They're usually identified by a totally useless itty bitty truck bed. Big enough to hold a bag of dog food amd not much else. The Chevy Avalanche takes it a step further. It has the ability to convert from an SUV to a pick-up. All you need to do is wrestle off the back window. Yeah, I bet all sorts of people use that feature. But no worries, there's also the Envoy "XUV" with a retractable roof. So you can have your pseudo-pickup without all the work. Fantastic... Except that I don't get it. Who buys these cars? Are these for people who just can't make up their minds? Are there so many people who can't make up their minds that there needs to be entire cars designed for them? Seriously, people. Pick one. You just look silly driving your car/SUV/truck/station wagon/minivan.
