Feeling Catty
I'm going to die alone with my cats.... OK, not really. But I saw Marshall's cat lady today. I didn't know we had a cat lady, but I should have guessed. Every good small town has a crazy cat lady. I walked up to Michigan Ave to go to the post office and hardware store. Did a little window shopping too. While admiring a $54 cobalt blue glass bottle (no worries, I didn't buy it, it'd need to hold liquid gold for $54), she walked past me. Or should I say shuffled past me? She had on purple stirrup pants and a dirty mint green sweatshirt. I know purple and green are opposites on the color wheel, and they can work together. But trust me, this didn't work. Her shoes appeared to be those white high top Reeboks, you know, the 80s ones. And well, they were white at one time. Not exactly anymore. She had wild gray hair. Think Einstein. She looked like a crazy cat lady. Crazy cat lady was pushing a stroller. At first, I thought she must be watching her grandkid or something. But she stopped and bent over the stroller.... And pulled out a gray cat. She cuddled it for a minute, then put it back and shuffled on. I was of course intrigued. A cat lady out of the house. I didn't know crazy cat ladies left the house. I thought they just lived in old run down houses with overgrown gardens and scared the neighbor kids. I wasn't going that way, but I walked in her direction to see what else she had in the stroller. Three more cats. Cat lady and her kitties out for an afternoon stroll. Good times... But just wondering, why are there no crazy cat men? If fundamentally un-marriable women turn into crazy cat ladies, what do un-marriable men turn into?
