Icky Green Pond Scum

Some of the footage from New Orleans and that area is amazing. Not like in an oohs and ahhs way but more of a holy crap way. And I have to say that I can on no level understand how anyone could ever think looting was OK. I can rationalize food or water or diapers. But a DVD player, a plasma TV, and a half dozen pairs of Nikes? I have no idea how a person could justify that in their mind. You're not going to have electricity for months. What the hell are you going to do with a DVD player and a plasma TV? You won't even have a house. And your 6 pairs of shoes? They're about to get wet, buddy. I think looters are below pond scum on the chain of life.

In other news, it appears I got a great bargain on gas yesterday. I paid 2.99 yesterday morning. And I was all pissed off about it, because the night before it had only been 2.79. But then it was 3.24 on my way home from work last night. So I guess 2.99 was quite a steal. It's all relative. However, I do have trouble believing that the gas supply situation has become so dire since March that the prices have risen from like 1.75 to 3.24. But it's not something I do anything about, so I've just stopped looking at the total price. Luckily, I can afford it. I'm not happy about it, but at least it's not going to break the bank.
