We're back. It was a good trip. Now if I could just have a weekend to recover from my weekend... We crammed a ton of stuff into our couple days... The bridge, Pier 39 and the sea lions, cable cars, Muir Woods, Lombard Street, wine tasting, Alcatraz. We had "tourist" written all over us. We rented a car and drove up to Muir Woods. It's really a nice park, seems weird that it's so close to the city. We got off the paved trails and wandered back onto the Ocean View Trail, from which you cannot see the ocean. A bit of a misnomer. For future park guests, if you're going to hike this trail and you're lazy like me, go counter-clockwise. We went clockwise. I think we climbed 6500 stairs. This is why I live in a flat state. Then was wine country since we had the car... We took the loooooog way. It's about 25 minutes from Muir if you take the highway. Geniuses that we are, we took Highway 1 up the coast. It look like 2 hours on windy windy roads. TJ got carsick. Wuss. :o) He'll blame my driving. I'll blame the roads. But like a true champ, he overcame the carsickness in time to drink some free samples. Much to the disapproval of some ladies who work at wineries, I still can't tell one wine from the next beyond this one is white, this one is red. And that's basically because they are different temperatures. But TJ liked Sonoma. He'll like it even better next time as he'll drive and he won't take the curvy road. The most random adventure was an expedition for some sub shop my dad remembers from when we went on family vacation back in like 1995. Apparently, this was a damn good sub. He kept talking about it, so we set out to find the sub shop which was conveniently located "somewhere near that one hotel we stayed at." Yes, that one we stayed at. 10 years ago. Well, shockingly, we found the hotel. And the sub shop. Viking's Giant Subs. Not a bad sub. But I'm not sure it was worth a decade of worship. But hey, if the man loved the subs, the man loved the subs. He'll get a kick out of it that we went back. And just to wrap things up, here is the requisite picture of the bridge that no trip to San Francisco would be complete without. But before I go, to all of you who may be thinking of taking a trip with TJ -- do not leave him in charge of transportation to and from the airport. We didn't arrive into SFO until late late on Thursday night. And he decides he wants to take public transportation. Sure, it's only $7 a person. But it took over 2 hours. And do you know who rides the trains in the city at midnight? Not the most upstanding citizens. We took my way back, meaning order a car service. Sure, my way costs like 3 times as much. But it only took 20 minutes. And it wasn't creepy. But the BART and the cable cars at 1am are an adventure, I'll give him that. Alright. This is long enough. And I never loved looking at other people's vacation pictures and neither do you probably. So, cheerio.
